Hi! My name is Elmer, and I am a very sweet and patient boy who has a very tragic (and mysterious) past. I was dropped off at the Hayward shelter with my front left paw missing and bone visible from the injury. It seems like my foot was likely chewed off by a raccoon or other predator – one of the risks of previously being an outdoor bunny. Despite my missing foot and inevitable pain (which I am being treated for with pain medicine and antibiotics), I get around very well and ! I am going to undergo surgery very soon to remove my leg completely. After I have surgery and spend some time recovering and learning how to walk with three legs, I will need a loving home with someone who will keep me warm and safe in their house and take care of me for the rest of my life.
The surgery is going to cost about $1000 – please consider making a donation to the Rabbit Center today to help pay for the surgery and care after the surgery. Please make sure to note on the donation form that the donation is to support Elmer’s surgery and recovery!
