Janet & Elly (Valentine)

Janet & Elly (Valentine)

Janet was one of the first bunnies rescued from a deplorable situation in Hayward, CA, in 2004. At that time, her hair was bleached (from exposure to the sun) and was falling out (from malnutrition). Even worse, her ears had been chewed in half, most likely from other rabbits who turned on her in anger. And both her eyes were closed, due to infection and injury. There was little hope she could survive.

But survive she did. Four months later, in August 2004, sweet little “Jan-Jan” as her daddies, Chris ‘n’ Todd call her, was adopted, and she blossomed. The scar tissue at the end of her ears were was replaced by white tufts. Her sun-scorched fur fell out, giving way to a coat of beautiful grey-silver. And after many exams and surgery, her eyes were restored as best as possible.

Janet now lives with her “gal pal”, Elly (formerly Valentine). Elly, too, has her problems; she cannot stop her front legs from splaying out beneath her. Perhaps they saw each was a “special” bunny. But whatever the case, they are now best of friends. And Janet, who survived so horrors, now lives a life of luxury and constant attention from Todd and Chris. And, of course, Elly. She is the sweetest, yet bravest, of souls anyone could hope to meet.
