Translation Guidelines
- Translate entire documents. This way, the information is not taken out of context. What is an entire document? In most cases it’s an entire HTML document.
- Clearly indicate the date of the translation, so people will know how old/out of date the document may be. This is especially critical for medical documents.
- Provide the url of the original document, indicating that the most up-to-date version of the document can always be found at the original location.
- Give credit to the original author of the material. If an individual author is not listed, you can give credit to the House Rabbit Society.
- Clearly state that the HRS is not responsible for accuracy of the translation.
- Each document should let the user know how they can contact the House Rabbit Society. If the information is on-line, provide a link within your translated document to the original HRS home page. If the information is to be printed, place our postal address on the page.
- Please feel free to distribute the translation in paper or email versions for any nonprofit use you may want.
- Provide us with an electronic copy of your translation. We would much prefer to host the translation on the web ourselves, so that many others may point to it and we can be sure and keep it up to date.
