House Rabbit Society Condemns Alleged Felony Rabbit Abuse at Peacebunny Cottage

HRS joins everyone grieving the loss of life for more than forty helpless rabbits, and the senseless and preventable suffering of hundreds more at Peacebunny Cottage in Savage Minnesota.

Laurie Gigous, House Rabbit Society President, adds, “We are deeply saddened by this tragedy, and call for those who are responsible to be held accountable, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Rabbits are social and intelligent creatures, and deserve better. Sadly, in cases of animal abuse and neglect, prosecutions are rare, so we ask rabbit supporters everywhere to demand accountability.”

HRS condemns all forms of animal abuse, and we find the descriptions of the deplorable conditions at Peacebunny Cottage deeply disturbing. HRS has reached out for more details and to see where help is needed. We will continue to monitor the situation and hope each and every one of the surviving rabbits is spayed and neutered and finds a loving indoor home.
